Pattern Overview

Awesome underwear!

After the Coraline Cami testing-weekend, I got to test the Primrose Panties pattern for Bella Sunshine Designs too.
Even more scrapbusting fun !

I picked the low rise, low cut (hipster) version, both for me and my daughter.
The pattern also features a high rise version and a higher cut legopening (briefs).

The crotch has a fully lined gusset. You can pick a more breathable fabric for that piece if needed.
The instructions show you how to "burrito-rol" that so there are no exposed seams.

In the early testing phase, I made a pair with the banded finish.
I'm pretty sure they are nice when you use a serger, but I don't own one of those.

With a regular sewing machine like mine, that means clipping and stitching down the seam allowances. If you ask me, that is a painful process. And it never really turns out clean. The seam allowances tend to roll up on themselves a bit. That is not what I call pretty. It just takes too much of my time to fix it.

So for the final phase I opted for the FOE-finish. That looks so much better!
I made a few pairs with a contrasting lining, to show the best version (in my humble opinion).

This is the first underwear pattern I have tried, so I can't compare to other brands.
But what I can tell you is that I LOVE these: both the cami and the panties. They make a nice set. Custom made underwear is great. Especially if your hips and waist don't fall in the same size in RTW. The blending instructions are easy to follow to get the exact fit we all dream of in our undies ;-)

The coverage is exactly what I want. No riding up, no wedgies. They just stay where they have to be.

My daughter agrees the fit is great. When I asked her how she felt about them after wearing them all day, she replied: It's like not wearing any at all! Isn't that just about the best thing you can say about underwear?

Since the end of the underwear tests, I made a whole bunch more.
My daughter has 6 hipsters, a cami top and a cami dress. I got a cami top and 2 hipsters so far. I used up the whole piece of fabric from the test and some other scraps. The plain fabric got a butterfly application that had been sitting in my stash for a long time too.
I need more FOE fast too attack the rest of my scrapbox.
I never made so many pieces in such a small timeframe!

When the pattern was launched I saw that one of my makes made it to the cover of the pattern.
It's just silly how happy I am with that.
