Bella Sunshine Designs just launched 2 new patterns: Coraline Camisole and Primrose Panties. Both are available in girls and ladies versions. I signed up for a weekend of testing :-)
I was determined to use up some scraps. A cami and panties? That can't use up huge amounts of fabric, right? I dove into the scraps stash with my daughter. We we're looking for small pieces of fabric. The little princess made her choice pretty fast: a nice panel fabric. She loved it! Not a scrap, but straight from the stash just the same.

We spread out the fabric with her pattern on top. She noticed there was enough for a dress length and a matching top for me.
How cool is it when your kid actually proposes to wear matching outfits? And how much cooler is it as a sewing mom to have your 10 year old comment on pattern placement?
Her plan worked: She got a cami dress that she's been wearing all weekend even though it's winter. And I have a matching top saved for summer. The weekend after that we both got matching panties too!
This was my first encounter with FOE* that turned out good. The explanation on the BSD blog was very enlightening. As long as you go slow, you don't even need that walking foot.
The cami is a very quick sew: 2 pattern pieces + a bit of FOE and you have yourself an nice cami. Or you could go all out and try the built-infra option. I haven't tried that one (yet)
The cami pattern and matching underwear pattern is available at Bella Sunshine Designs.
You even get a nice discount at launch week.
